December 1

And so December comes round again,

more quickly with every passing year, the dark nights start at 4 pm and seem to last forever. The days are cold and the aga is the gathering place in the house. Christmas and family gathering are less than a month away and christmas decorations are being dusted down as the first cards drop on the door mat. This is scene setting in guernsey. Of course in phoenix the holiday season has been one long extended shop since before thanksgiving on 22 November. Competitive house and yard decoration gathers apace – but I ask myself 'can anything beat the hallowe'en extravaganza' which goes on in the states? Hell, yes!

As you can see I have made a start before December to get into the Christmas spirit. There is way too much to do as family arrive later in month and blogs to write about what's cooking. Tomorrow is mega marzipan day – this involves somes on the fruit cake and some for me!

As it has taken me two days to figure out how to add the Pinterest button, if you like what you see PLEASE like, follow, share and pin. And of course I'd love to hear what you think of starting Christmas songs in stores in the middle of November.

hi! i am Anne (hence vANNilla) - two 'N's autocorrect WILL autocorrect - grrrrrr I can most often be found cooking up a storm in the kitchen,(with my trusty thermomix) behind a camera or a kindle. If you are a traveller/photographer my bog is @vannilla If you have come as a baker my blog is i studied economics in Edinburgh in the early 70's; now retired from a day job, on paper i have plenty of time to explore the blogosphere and enjoy the shared experiences of others. like every other retiree i know we wonder how we fitted in a day job. I split my time between Guernsey,. In the Channel Islands -a 20-odd square mile island with 60thousand+ inhabitants- and Phoenix, Arizona. The mix is perfect- the former is beautiful but attacks of cabin fever are never too far away. Arizona, on the other hand IS king of the open road and has THE biggest bluest sky EVER. my blogs revolve around baking (vannillarock) and photography/travel if you like what you see please do start a conversation :)

i'd love to hear from you...
