Do some things just look better than they taste?

This beautiful bowl of fruit was awaiting me at the Island Shangi-La Hong Kong. Oh, did I say it hasn't stopped raining since we arrived 48+ hours ago?! Anyway this handsome piece of fruit got me thinking that sometimes pretty exteriors hide a bland interior – an not just on the culinary front. My Instagram friends came to the rescue when I couldn't remember what it was called. In fact, dragon fruit don't adorn the fruit counter at Waitrose guernsey, but I have seen them in more exotic places. When I finally cut into it I knew immediately what it was and what it tasted like. They often form part of a fruit salad in up market hotels around the world with their distinctive black seeds and colouring- distinctive look but in opinion ion forgettable taste. Oh well, pretty fruit bowl and it's all a matter of taste.

Would love to hear what you think looks nicer on the outside.
