Christmas markets, cold frosty nights, snoods, mittens and gluhwein to warm you inside- fab! Mine is made in the Thermomix but you can easily make in a traditional pan.
This is a recipe you can vary to your own taste, these are my base ingredients. I have adapted it from TM Fast and Easy Cooking.
- 80g sugar ( you can certainly use less than this and it might be a good idea to start with less and increase it if you want it sweeter)
- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 6 cloves
- I whole nutmeg
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 star anise
- 4 card omen pods, cracked
- 6 whole allspice berries
- 500ml apple juice
- 500 ml water
750ml bottle red wine
50ml peach schnapps (if you want an alternative kick of brandy than feel free)
If heating in a pan brings to boil and simmer for 15 minutes before straining into glasses.
In TM bowl,
Grind sugar 5 seconds so 10
Weigh all the liquids into the TM bowl
Add all other ingredients to steamer basket and put into TM bowl.
Heat 90°, 15 minutes sp1.
